It was a beautiful day for the unofficial launch of the Mardi Gras festival. Fair Day is always a great chance to catch up with everyone in a relaxed environment. We saw plenty of familiar faces and quite a few new people as well. The stall was set up in it’s usual position at 8.30am and did a rip-roaring trade all day until we finally dragged ourselves to the Hampy around 6.30pm. Thank you to all the members who volunteered their time at the counter. It was so busy that we basically filled all the available positions for the Parade although a few spots had been seet aside for the out-of-town and interstate girls. Wee keep saying ‘get in early’ and this year was the perfect example.
The new merchandise range was on display for the first time and lots of girls were excited to see something other than the standard t-shirts. The new spaghetti strap tops went down a treat with the femme girls and the sporting singlet was a huge hit with those who look like they actually excercise. There was also the rainbow wristbands, the new DOB lighters and aluminium drink coolers which were perfect for the weather.
